The first three children were born in Scotland.  The 1881 census shows them living in Chatham, Ontario, Canada.  In 1889, they moved to Brantford.  The 1901 census shows him living with his family in Brantford and it lists his occupation as a grocery merchant.

Edward owned a grocery store on Market Street in Brantford, Ontario.  He was a Mason.  The family attended the Zion Presbyterian Church.

Edward died on July 13, 1909, in Brantford.  He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery.  Several of his children are buried there too.  Their names are engraved on a headstone.  Elizabeth died on August 13, 1939.  She is buried in Greenwood Cemetery although her name is not listed on the headstone.
